What better way to mark the warmer days and lighter evenings then to host a Beltane celebration!
The Pagan holiday is traditionally held on May 1st and celebrates the arrival of the new season.
Thanks to a generous donation of flowers from Sheffield based florist Swallows and Damsons, our service users who attend our weekly drop-in groups spent the morning making floral decorations, and learning about traditional Gaelic beliefs.
Causeway staff member Hope Johnson (pictured with fellow staff member Kay Wood) said: “The florists were really generous and made sure there were enough flowers for every person attending the sessions. They asked loads of questions about Causeway’s work and the people we support, and we were glad of the opportunity to raise awareness of the impact trafficking and exploitation has on people in the UK.
“The women who came to the craft session loved it, and couldn’t wait to take the flowers home to brighten their rooms. Lots of them also had babies with them, so we did a little photo shoot of them with their children and the flowers, which was lovely.
“It was also nice that we could introduce them to different cultural celebrations. As a Pagan myself it meant a lot to be able to share this celebration with them.”
