Gala Evening's expert panel announced!

Our Fundraising Gala Evening is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to introduce you to our panel of modern slavery and criminal justice experts who will speaking at the event.

Modern slavery and criminal justice are complex areas, but shedding some light on the issue will be a panel of specialists from across the modern slavery sector. The five experts from the fields of survivor rescue, survivor support, and survivor voice, will discuss best practice and advances in survivor support as part of the evening’s theme: Innovation in Recovery- A Journey Beyond Exploitation.

Topics under discussion will range from ways people are forced into exploitation, to how advances in Artificial Intelligence are supporting survivors’ recovery journeys and aiding resilience to re-exploitation.

Our expert panelists include:

Ann-Marie Douglas - Contract Director at the Salvation Army

Dr Julia Muraszkiewicz - Head of Programme for Human Trafficking and Human Rights at Trilateral Research

Sian Payne - Senior Policy and Partnership Officer at Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and Partnership Officer at Manchester Programme Challenger

Martin Plimmer - Senior Investigating Officer for the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority

Dr Rivka Smith – Criminal Justice Researcher and Co-Chair of the Sheffield University Policing Research Group.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place on September 21st at Sheffield's Millenium Gallery.

It aims to both fundraise and raise awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking and crime reduction. 

As well as celebrity speakers and expert panellists, Gala guests will enjoy a drinks reception, three course meal, music and entertainment.
